Empower Lives with World T.E.A.M. this October
Join national non-profit World T.E.A.M. in our Adventure Team Challenge at Colorado on October 8-11, 2022. Participating athletes will travel to the remote Rancho del Rio resort in the high Gore Mountain Range north of Eagle. Cellular telephone service does not serve this isolated fishing and water sports resort on the banks of the Colorado River, and most participants will camp outside in tents during the duration of the program.
After getting to know their teammates and outdoor equipment through onsite training and practice, athletes will complete two daily stages of the Challenge. From the base camp at Rancho del Rio, they will ride mountain bikes and specially-designed hand cycles on single and double-track trails, raft the Colorado River through challenging whitewater rapids, locate back country checkpoints and ascend granite outcroppings and rappel back to the ground. Team members work closely together throughout the Challenge, solving technical challenges as well as learning that cooperation allows for easier and more timely completion of each stage. By Saturday evening as the program concludes with a celebratory dinner and campfire party, athletes recognize they have learned new outdoor skills they can take home with them. Perhaps more importantly, each participant has made new friends who will remain a part of their life.
An Inspiring History
World T.E.A.M. has been organizing and directing Adventure Team Challenge for more than a decade. Our inaugural Adventure Team Challenge was held in June 2007 at the Rancho del Rio resort as the Real Deal Inclusive Sports Adventure. The Arkansas River valley south of Leadville and the high desert west of Grand Junction, near the Utah border, have also hosted the Challenge in past years.
Regional and national media have followed the Challenge, including coverage by NBC Sports’ Jeep World of Adventure Sports, the Denver Post, Grand Junction Free Press, Women’s Adventure, Sports ‘N Spokes, Westword, Vail Daily, Denver local television, Grand Junction local television, and other print, broadcast and online media.
