Military Highlight:

Face of America Gettysburg honors our veterans and first responders. “America’s First National Institution” celebrated its 246th birthday this month, and we celebrate our Army veterans! This October, join Jim McCauley on the road from Arlington to Gettysburg. Jim served in the US Army from 1966 to 1971 as a Captain in U.S. Army Special Forces serving two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, three Army Commendation Medals, one for Valor, as well as several other medals. Jim has been a passionate supporter of our Face of America Program, and is part of Team American Portfolios.

Social Media Promotion:

Every day is Ride Your Bike Day with World TEAM, and June 21st is National Selfie Day! What better way to celebrate both than to take a picture of yourself – in World TEAM gear – training for Face of America. Post to your social media in the month of June, using #wearefaceofamerica and you could win sunglasses. And of course, we expect the winner to wear the cool specs during FOA. Congrats to our winner of the May social media bike light giveaway Geoffrey Moulton!

Route Highlight:

Our finish line again this year is Brown’s Ranch. This 232-acre private farm borders the Military Park and is being preserved as an agricultural property. During the July 1863 Battle of Gettysburg, the house on the farm was used as headquarters for Confederate General A.P. Hill, commander of the 3rd corps for General Robert E. Lee's army. Cycling into Brown's Ranch, athletes will ride down the long private driveway, lined with American flags and ahead the historic farm buildings. There, we will celebrate with delicious barbecue, cold beer and we are hoping – good weather! We are grateful to have you as a part of our TEAM and our Face of America Family. We look forward to seeing you all in October!

We are thrilled to be riding into Frederick Fairgrounds on Saturday! There will be food trucks, cold beer, indoor restrooms, and best of all – covered, secure bike storage! As always, we will run shuttles from the Fairgrounds to the local hotels on Saturday afternoon and again early on Sunday morning.

Military Highlight:

Face of America Gettysburg honors our veterans and first responders. This month, we recognize our participants from the National Guard. Serving both their communities and their country, members of the National Guard play a critical role during national emergencies, while also remaining a ready force for supporting military operations overseas. Mandy Kloepfer served in the Army National Guard. Read her story and ride with her in October!

Social Media Promotion:

Every day is Ride Your Bike Day with World TEAM, and May 21st is National Ride Your Bike To Work Day! What better way to celebrate both than to take a picture of yourself – in World TEAM gear – commuting to the office – or riding the neighborhood near your home office. Post to your social media during the month of May, using #wearefaceofamerica and you may win a set of bike lights!

Fundraising Tip:

Fundraising is in high gear and we are here to help. This month’s tip is about Goal Setting. Your commitment is the amount you agreed to raise when you registered. But, you can increase your goal to any amount you choose. As you start to get towards, or exceed your commitment, adjust your goal upwards to encourage more donations. Remember, changing your goal does not affect your commitment. Need help? Send us an email.

We are grateful to have you as a part of our TEAM and our Face of America Family. We look forward to seeing you all in October!
