SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, October 8th

12:00-6:30 p.m. Ride check-in / Bike inspection – Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport, Arlington

  • Hotel location: 2799 Richmond Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22202.
  • Bike Inspection Opens – recommended for all participating athletes.

All athletes and volunteers must personally check-in and pick up their packets. You may not have a friend or colleague pick up your packets owing to our paper liability waiver to be signed on site. If you are unable to check-in during the Friday period, our Saturday check-in between 5:30 a.m.-6:30 a.m. is available.

  • Dinner Reception: TBD until further notice


Saturday, October 9


5:00-6:30 a.m. Breakfast / Stage overnight bags in the trucks outside the Hyatt Regency Crystal City

  • Hotel location: 2799 Richmond Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22202.
  • Quick breakfast featuring a variety of protein-based breakfast sandwiches and small offerings provided on the Hyatt Regency lower level (if you eat in the hotel restaurant, or order room service, you are responsible for the cost)
  • Please bring and place your overnight bag in the staged trucks outside prior to eating breakfast.
  • Luggage must be clearly tagged with your name and your ride number.


5:30 – 6:30 a.m. Saturday athlete check-in and bike inspection


6:45 a.m. All athletes out of the Hyatt Regency to the Crystal Drive staging area


7:00 a.m. Outdoor opening ceremony


7:15 a.m. Face of America Gettysburg begins


Due to the route, you must arrive at the start on time. You MUST carry with you a valid, current photo identification card to enter Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. Stragglers will not be allowed to proceed through the base.


3:30 p.m. Riders arrive at the Frederick Fairgrounds, Frederick, Maryland

  • Fairgrounds Location: 797 E Patrick St, Frederick, MD 21701.
  • Athletes celebrate with food, beverage, and live musical entertainment. Food trucks will be on-site with options for purchase.
  • Store bikes in a secured building.
  • Collect your overnight bag, and catch free local hotel shuttles from the fairgrounds.


4:00-7:30 p.m. Shuttle service to hotels from Frederick Fairgrounds

  • Shuttle vans provide transportation for participants to their hotels.
  • Final shuttle departure from the Fairgrounds is at 7:30 p.m.
  • No set group activities – dinner and transportation to local restaurants is on your own.


5:00-8:30 p.m. Adaptive athlete dinners

  • $20 dinner vouchers are available for all registered adaptive athletes. Reservations for these vouchers are required – reservations must have been made online by our October 1st deadline. Vouchers are not refundable, nor are they transferable. Adaptive athletes may spend more than $20 for their dinner, but are responsible for any cost beyond the $20 dinner voucher.
  • All other athletes and volunteers are responsible for their own dinner arrangements in Frederick.


Sunday, October 10th


5:00–6:00 a.m. Breakfast / Baggage staging at the Frederick Fairgrounds

  • Fairgrounds Location: 797 E Patrick St, Frederick, MD 21701.
  • A quick breakfast featuring breakfast sandwiches and other items will be available from trucks outside at the fairgrounds (for meals at hotels, you are responsible for the cost).
  • Please depart your hotels to arrive at the fairgrounds early, so we do not have a rush for the shuttles in the last minute. Shuttles begin service on a loop from the hotels at 5:00 a.m.
  • Upon arrival, place your overnight bag in the luggage truck and collect your bike from the bike room.


6:15 a.m. Riders form up at Frederick Fairgrounds


6:30 a.m. Ride begins

  • Due to permitting issues, we are on a tight timeline departing the Frederick Fairgrounds. Please assist us in meeting our permit schedule.


1:00 p.m. Ride finish and arrival at Brown’s Ranch at Gettysburg

  • Ranch Location: 180 Redding Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
  • Arrival time is approximate – anticipated between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m.
  • There is limited parking on the Brown’s Ranch property for family, friends, and colleagues available at the end of Windbriar lane entering the ranch.
  • Additional street parking is along the northern part of Redding Lane, Woodcrest Drive, and other neighborhood streets. Please leave the main entrance to the ranch on Redding Lane open for the cyclists to pass. Golf carts will provide shuttle service for those parked on the city streets to the ranch.
  • Remote lot parking for visitors is at the Federal Communications Commission building, 1270 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Shuttling will be frequent to and from this location.
  • Only service dogs are permitted on the Brown’s Ranch property. Any athletes with service dogs need to arrange for a friend or family member to care for the dog until the athlete’s arrival.


1:30 p.m. Program conclusion and closing ceremony


1:35-3:00 p.m. Brown’s Ranch Barn Party and Roast

  • Areas for athletes to change from their cycling clothes to clothes from their overnight bags will be available.
  • Athletes riding the Arlington bus need to load bikes onto trucks prior to festivities. Overnight bags can be loaded onto buses when they arrive.
  • Enjoy a fresh meal with cold beverages, and live musical entertainment.


3:00 p.m. Buses depart Gettysburg for Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel, Arlington


  • Departure time from Brown’s Ranch is set for 3:00 p.m. Loading begins at 2:45 p.m.


5:00-5:30 p.m. Buses arrive at Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel in Arlington


  • Collect your overnight bag
  • Collect your bicycle from the box trucks.
  • Bike rentals are returned to vendors.
  • Transfer to Hyatt airport shuttle for athletes departing for Reagan National Airport.
