About Us

Our Organization

Since launching our first inclusive sports program in 1987, World TEAM has created life-changing outdoor athletic experiences that unite adaptive and able-bodied athletes from all backgrounds. Through sports as diverse as cycling, mountain climbing, whitewater rafting, and sea kayaking, we empower individuals to push boundaries and achieve what once seemed impossible.

Our programs are made possible through participant fundraising, donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships. For full transparency, our Financial Documents page provides detailed information, including IRS Form 990s and annual reports.

In 2020, nearly 93% of all financial contributions went directly toward supporting our athletes and programs. Our flagship annual fundraiser, Face of America Gettysburg, fuels these efforts—helping sustain inclusive events from New York to Colorado.

World TEAM was chartered as a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1993. We are headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, with financial offices in Patchogue, New York.

Our Mission Statement

World TEAM brings adaptive and able-bodied athletes together by empowering, enabling and engaging individuals through inclusive athletic programs. We believe The Exceptional Athlete Matters.

For more than 25 years, World TEAM has harnessed the power of athletics to challenge and empower men, women, and children with disabilities—helping them achieve goals once thought impossible. Every program we create brings adaptive and able-bodied athletes together through sports such as mountain climbing, cycling, whitewater rafting, and more.

Beyond our annual World TEAM Challenge: Valley of the Sun, we host additional inclusive events across the country. Signature programs include Face of America: Gettysburg, a two-day cycling journey from Washington, D.C. to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and the Adventure TEAM Challenge in New York’s Catskill Mountains.

In addition to our dedicated staff, World TEAM relies on the tireless support of volunteers across the nation who help make our inclusive sports programs possible. Their generosity and commitment ensure we can deliver exceptional experiences for both adaptive and able-bodied athletes.

Guiding our mission is an experienced and passionate Board of Directors, led by Chairman Lon Dolber.
