Our Organization
Since our very first inclusive sports program in 1987, World T.E.A.M. creates challenging outdoor athletic programs that bring together adaptive and able-bodied persons of all backgrounds. We empower lives through sports as diverse as cycling, mountain climbing, white water rafting, sea kayaking and more.
Participant fundraising and donations, grants and business sponsorship support provide funding for our organization and our programs. Our corporate Financial Documents page offers detailed financial information about our organization, including IRS Form 990s and past annual reviews.
In 2020, approximately 93 percent of all incoming financial support was applied directly to cover the costs of our programs and our participating athletes. Face of America Gettysburg is our primary fundraising program for the year, helping support other inclusive programs from New York to Colorado.
Chartered as a national 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in 1993, World T.E.A.M. is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts with financial offices in Holbrook, New York.
Our Mission Statement
World T.E.A.M. brings adaptive and able-bodied athletes together by empowering, enabling and engaging individuals through inclusive athletic programs. We believe The Exceptional Athlete Matters.
For more than a quarter century, our organization has used athletics to challenge and empower men, women and children with disabilities to accomplish goals they never thought possible. In all our programs, from mountain climbing, cycling, white water rafting and many other sports, we include both adaptive and able-bodied participants.
In addition to our annual Face of America cycling challenge to Gettysburg, World T.E.A.M. creates and manages other programs for adaptive and able-bodied athletes in several states. These programs include our Adventure Team Challenges in Colorado’s high country, New York’s Catskill Mountains, and suburban Washington D.C.; and our Coastal Team Challenge along the southern coast of Long Island, New York.
Our Team
In addition to our staff, World T.E.A.M. greatly depends on the tireless support of our valuable volunteers nationwide to help in creating and managing our inclusive sports programs such as Face of America. Without this generous support, our organization would be unable to provide exceptional sporting experiences for our participating adaptive and able-bodied athletes.
The organization is managed by a knowledgeable and experienced board of directors, led by Chairman James Benson and Vice-Chairman Lon Dolber.
